Join Baby Jingo and the New Jingoists

For all the venomous flag humping "patriots" out there who would give our country to the dogs, I started a group where intellectuals of all stripes and get it together and hammer it out, for good or bad.

If you're interested, join newjingoists and contribute to the discussion.

Hope to see you there,
-Freedom Duck

I don't know fortunateson ... your description of me doesn't make me feel too welcome. Somehow it doesn't sound like there is going to be good, reasonable debate.
Wizzy has a room that is pretty respectful to both sides. I'd rather take my chances there :) right_left08
Oh, I would never promise or expect good or reasonable debate, where people sniff butts and trade witty bon mots. The American dialogue has moved way beyond that, way into the realm of disrespect and the twisted political bigotry of red vs. blue. Thoughtful, reasonable people have this annoying tendancy to pussyfoot around and try to blend in like furniture while the Jingos shriek their madness and half-baked, half-witted freakiness right through people's faces.

So, if you're a thoughtful, reasonable person, it's better to go somewhere else. I'm just out to net Jingos. Hopefully it'll get rich - then you'll start wanting to join, too.
I have to give you points for honesty. Most people at least try to pretend that they are interested in having the views of thoughtful and reasonable people.

However, although I appreciate the honesty, I can't agree that it's admirable - or even rational - to desire a debate community in which only the ignorant and unreasonable participate.
To tell the truth, I wasn't going to promote the group on this board because I've followed it and debated a little on it and the people here are generally really switched on, yourself included.

The name of the group really should say it all. I don't really expect smart people to join unless they're just looking for kicks or after some kind of Socratic approach to banging their head against a wall. I mean, who do you think the flag-humpers are? Who's giving our country to the dogs - which dogs?
Thanks for the kind words.

"Looking for kicks or after some kind of Socratic approach to banging their head against a wall..." just cracks me up, by the way. I may have to join just because of that comment. =oP
You're funny :) I hope you guys have a great and successful room!!!
Well... he did describe both sides in a derogatory manner - flag humping patriots on one side, and those who would give our country to the dogs...

*grin*
I'm glad you pointed that out ... I had overlooked that indication that we are dealing with a fair and honest man :)
We could us a thoughtful conservative ledge ... since debate2004 is gone :)
Who, me?

I'm only sometimes (hopefully more often than not) thoughtful, and only sometimes conservative. (Jokers on either side can go ahead and jump in here about those two cases being synonymous or not...)

You'd have to see yourself as a "flag humping patriot" to be offended by that. What if you're one of the less visiable, less obnoxious and unattentive people who feels genuine Patriotism without sharing this idea that citizens should be empty vessels for any demagogue who proclaims to have to same idealogy to lead around.

Less obnoxious huh? What an exhilerating thought. There's a possibility I'm reasonable . . . ? Would a reasonable person fit in? So you're an honest man ... and I'm possibly reasonable. Guess I'll at least peek in. You see I'm weakening :)
I had just decided to back out of politics so this must be my weak moment :)
I haven't even been to the site yet. I was just pointing out that you were jumping to conclusions about the statement ducky made. Who knows, we might be missing out on something stupendous. :p
No, there's nothing stupendous about it, and you're not missing out on a damn thing... until you get there and say something worthwhile, that is.

I blew fireballs with Polish vodka tonight... 96% alcohol... I'm the kind of guy who you should listen to when it comes to American politics.
Your sarcasm is totally lost on me, and I now trust you as Dave's #1 News Source! :D
Having been living outside of America for quite some time, I'm not a very sarcastic person. I guess I didn't expect you to take it that way. So no, I wasn't being sarcastic, I just want you to join the group.

...and post, because I don't like posting as the mod of my own group..."say something worthwhile"
